Asen alter staff, wrought iron, with cast bronze figures, made using lost wax method, including a snake and dog, likely C19th or early C20th, Fon culture, Republic of Benin, West Africa. Approximate sixe, 7" diameter.
PROVENANCE:From the estate of Professor Philip Gould, New York
Condition: Fair: losses to staff, missing mounting post and multiple pendant elements, oxidised surfaces throughout consistent with age
