Wrought iron ceremonial axe (danced by women during harvest celebrations), in crescent-shaped sickle form, with twisted iron handle, Kirdi peoples, North-East Nigeria or Northern Cameroon, West Africa, likely 19th century or early 20th century. Approximatly 15"H (without stand)
PROVENANCE: From the estate of Dr. Philip Gould, New York
Condition: Fair condition, good patina, wear consistent with age.
