A rare example of an Bura (Niger, West Africa) terracotta urn, 3rd – 13th century, showing remnants of slip color, and anthropomorphic face consisting of a long thin nose (complete with small nostrils), a mouth and ears, forming a face which is also cover. Approximate size, 6"H x 6"W
PROVENANCE: From the estate of Dr. Philip Gould, New York
Condition: Fair: Loss to top, and excavated condition. Good excavated patina.
