GUATEMALAN and CENTRAL AMERICAN TRIBAL/REGIONAL GARMENTS, TEXTILES, AND ACCESSORIES from MINNEAPOLIS INSTITUTE of ART Guatemalan and Central American textiles and garments show the hyper-regionality of back-strap loom weaving techniques and symbolic designs. Within this context the vibrancy of the Mayan culture comes through. The collection features ornate and brightly colored Huipils (tunics), Fajas (sashes/belts), Cortes (skirts), Tzutes (wraps), Tocoyal/Cintas (headbands), Paya (veils), and Pantalones (pants). All lots in this auction were part of Minneapolis Institute of Art collection; as such well preserved.
